“Only the darkness makes you crave the sunlight.”

Years ago I read that quote in a book and since then I’ve found that it’s applicable to an array of situations. And of course, it applies to my revisions. I set a goal to have my ms ready for the query phase by the time I head off to the writers conference in April, and now I’m second guessing that time frame. On Saturday, I decided to scan ahead on my ms and found that there are about 100 pages that I’m going to have to cut out and replace which means about an additional 26,000 words that is the amount that I’ve already added. With this new insight, depression settled on my shoulders like a worn out friend and he brought anxiety with him.

However, I know that I can do this, but I’m not sure I’ll have the necessary time needed for other eyes to read and edit it before I leave, but as another quote says, “The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.” So, I better get back to work.
