It has been a busy week and if last night is any indication this week is going to be crazy too. Last night, my almost two-year old vomited all over herself and crib. I hate it when they are so sick and so tiny. Not much you can do to alleviate the pain or comfort them. And besides illness on the agenda for today, it is also the first day of Spring Break for the older two. Ahh mama mia. I have a feeling that I’ll be tempted to tie them up and duck tape their mouths before the end of the two-week break. (Just kidding. Overall they are good kids, but the incessant teasing drives me bonkers.)

So, I thought I’d give you an update on where I stand with the writing. I’m not quite through editing my first draft, but on Friday, I had the pleasure of working with my beta reader who is a technical writer. Boy, am I grateful she is willing to do this for me. It’s amazing what she helped me do. My sentences are tighter and stronger. And the grammatical areas where I struggle, she corrected and reminded me of the rules that I’ve forgotten. Overall, one of the best experiences by far.

This week’s focus is my Query letter and Synopsis. I want to get them written and polished for the mid-April conference. Something that I’m hoping will help is Agent Kristin Nelson’s one hour webinar on query letters that I’m taking on Thursday evening. I am really excited for this class as she is also teaching one of the conference sessions, that I will be attending. Hopefully, this webinar will help me write the Query letter a little bit quicker as I know I need to spend a good chunk of time on the Synopsis. It needs to be a 100 times better than the last one I wrote. The one I called sucknopsis.

So, that’s where I am for now. To all of my fellow writers, I’d love to hear where you are in the process.
