I logged into my writing email account so I could return a manuscript I critiqued to a friend and I found another rejection letter. For the last two months, I’ve continued to receive a few rejections from the query letters I sent out this summer and for the most part they were a mere blip in my day.
I’m not sure why today’s stung as bad as the first one. I think I know what the problem is with that novel and I knew the rest of the agents would reject it as well. BUT today I felt as if I was sucker punched in the gut and maybe that is what it was, an unexpected flash of pain. Whatever it was, I hope I don’t get anymore responses from agents until I send out a new query letter informing them about this new manuscript.
Oh and by the way, I have to agree that the publishing world moves at a glacial pace.
