I’ve been reading this book about finding your voice and while I haven’t found it super helpful, I have discovered a few golden nuggets.

One of them is the rhythm of your sentences. The way we write. Long sentence-short sentence-short sentence. Long-long-long-short. Short-long-short-long. The author compared it to a dance. Some songs make us want to jump up and dance, others, sit down and cry. As writers we can sped up or slow down the story with our sentence structure.

Who knew?
